Who we are
This site, the Enterprising Family Program and our advisory work are run by Enterprising Families, a trading name of MILC Holdings Pty Ltd (ABN 68 163 567 048), based in Queensland, Australia. Enterprising Families publishes The Business of Family podcast, hosted by Mike Boyd, and is responsible for the information on this page.
What we collect and why
The newsletter
You confirm by email before anything is sent. We keep your email, your name if you choose to give it (only to greet you in the emails), the page you signed up on and any referrer or campaign tags. The list is kept with Resend, which sends the emails. Every email has an unsubscribe link. To see which emails are useful, we count deliveries, opens, clicks and unsubscribes per email, and links back to this site say which email they came from. Those counts go to our analytics under a one-way code, never your address. If you joined before this site existed, we ask whether you want to stay; if you do not answer, we do not email you again. That older list is with MailerLite only until we have asked. If you click a link to Enduring Stories in one of the emails, we may send you a few short notes about it, each with a link to stop them; the Enduring Stories site tells us if you buy or ask for a demo there, so the notes stop. The signup form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check for automated spam, as described under the contact forms below.
The Business Family Diagnostic
- Anonymous record. When your result appears, we keep an anonymous copy: your answers, family details (such as stage, generation, role and country), scores, timing, how you arrived and the date. No name, email, IP address or free text. A random id from your browser tells a retake from a new person. We use these runs for benchmarks, and any benchmark covers at least ten families. We also receive a private email summarising each run: family details and scores, never your answer to any single statement and nothing that identifies you. As the runs cannot identify you, we cannot find and delete one.
- Saving your result (optional). If you save with your email (and, if you like, your first name, used only to greet you in those emails), we keep it with your answers and result, send you a private link, then a few notes on your result over two weeks. Each note can stop the rest. If you do not stop them, your email and the page you saved on are added to the newsletter at the end.
- A note to us. When you save a result, we receive your email and a summary of your result (never your answer to any single statement). If it suggests your family might want to talk, we may write to you. Any contact is a personal email you can ignore.
- Deleting it. Use "Delete my saved result" on your result page, or send us your private link through the contact form (choose "A privacy request"). We intend to delete saved results three years after they were saved.
The Enterprising Family Program
- Payment. Stripe takes payment on its own pages; we never see your card. We keep Stripe's reference numbers in case of a refund.
- Your account. We keep the buyer's email, the tier, the date, members and open invites. Sign-in is by an emailed link that works once, for fifteen minutes. Members see each other's names or emails and whether a result is shared.
- Your results stay yours. Nobody, including the account owner, sees your result unless you share it, and sharing shows scores, not answers. The family's plan and adopted documents are shared; your drafts are private.
- Email. Account emails go through Resend. Buying or accepting an invite also adds you to the newsletter, as the page says at the time.
- Your data. Download yours from your account page. Leaving deletes your results; the owner can delete the whole account. Stripe keeps its payment record. We intend to delete accounts unused for three years, after a warning.
Contact and first-conversation forms
Messages from the contact form here and the booking form on enterprisingfamilies.com, with your name and email, are emailed to us through Resend and not kept on the website. The booking form also asks about your role and family. We use them only to reply. To stop automated spam, we count contact messages, newsletter signups and saved diagnostic results per sender for an hour, keyed by a one-way hash of your IP address that changes daily; the address itself is never stored.
This form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check for automated spam. Cloudflare processes your IP address and browser information for that purpose. See Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy addendum.
The newsletter signup, the form that saves and emails a diagnostic result, and the feedback form use Cloudflare Turnstile in the same way.
Feedback and testimonials
Feedback is optional. We keep the rating, any comment, where it was given, the date and any anonymous diagnostic id or Program account reference. Two unticked boxes let us quote you (named or anonymously) and let us email you about it. Nothing is published automatically. Use the contact form to withdraw.
Advisory work
What each person tells us in an engagement is confidential and used for that engagement only. Reports show views by generation and role, never by name. The engagement letter sets out the rest.
Analytics and cookies
PostHog and Cloudflare Web Analytics count page views and a few actions, without advertising cookies. PostHog does the same on enterprisingfamilies.com, and a visit that moves between the two sites counts as one visitor. Private links and sign-in codes are stripped from page addresses before they reach PostHog. PostHog session replays mask typed text and leave out the diagnostic, the Program's account and family pages and the feedback box. From the diagnostic, only that it was started, finished or saved, and a rough score band, go to analytics. From feedback, only the rating and where it was given.
Our only cookies are for Program sign-in: a signed one holding your account reference and email, and a flag saying you are signed in. Both last 30 days or until you sign out.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. These providers receive only what their job needs:
- Netlify: hosting and storage.
- Resend: the site's emails and the newsletter list.
- MailerLite: the older newsletter list, only while we ask its members whether they want to stay.
- Stripe: Program payments.
- PostHog: analytics.
- Cloudflare: analytics, and Turnstile, the spam check on the contact, booking, newsletter, diagnostic save and feedback forms.
Where it's held and how long
Our providers store data in the United States, the European Union and elsewhere, under their own privacy terms. Anonymous runs are kept while the diagnostic exists. Everything else is kept until you delete it or ask us to, or for the periods above.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, and we will respond within 30 days. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in how we handle personal information. If you live in the EU, the UK or another place with data protection law, you may have further rights under that law, and you can complain to your local regulator.
